Job Purpose

The role is responsible for preparing credit applications and structuring facilities for commercial/corporate customers / Financial Institutions/ Treasury. These customers could be across the FI industry.
Pre and Post-approval activities of managing credit risk include financial analysis, account monitoring, Analysis the contemporary changes in counterparties, highlighting Early warning signals, and ensuring good credit discipline.
Specific responsibilities for assigned FI portfolio.
Application of best practices in monitoring & control, ensuring proactive management & decisions.
Work closely with Business, Treasury, service delivery/support, and Product teams on transactions and credit risk management activities.
 

Key Accountabilities

Credit origination and management
•    FI proposals, renewals, and other submissions to be processed with a high standard, including good structure and financial analysis. This includes assessing the Credit catalyst report, Moody's report, News articles about the borrower, the Borrower's website, and other sources of information. CIFs on which limits need to be loaded must be assessed during the process. Present well-articulated and summarized Credit proposals directly to credit approvers and Central Credit Committee.
 
•    Professional advice on credit risk management matters, industry/product specialism and providing innovative risk solutions.

•    Exercise judgment in the evaluation and recommendation of Credit proposals.

•    Provide input in business and credit policy/process development

•    Regular/timely interaction with Relationship Managers. Participate in meetings of BU to support the respective BU. Engage at the preliminary stage of deals to ensure effective development and delivery of bespoke credit solutions for customers as appropriate.

•    Present Credit proposals directly to Sr.Executive- Wholesale Bank/Commercial Bank and Central Credit Committee
•    Ensure data integrity and attention to detail. Improve the quality of data across the credit process. This includes the FI master database and FILMS—timely and accurate rating of borrowers.

•    Daily review of the regular monitoring reports that are required from time to time.
•    Ensure that post sanctioning monitoring is appropriate to monitor credit risk.

•    Deliver service in line with agreed business needs
•    Maintain close working relationship with Business Unit, Treasury and develop a detailed understanding of their portfolio
•    Regular engagement with other stakeholders to proactively manage client needs and expectations
•    Proactively contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in support of process and quality improvements
•    Support and contribute to specific industry, product focus as determined by the Corporate, Treasury and Credit Teams

Risk and Compliance
•    Ensure compliance with all NBF & Regulatory policies and procedures both at an individual account level and at the portfolio level 
•    Ensure all reporting clearly details the risk parameters and highlights all exceptions providing clear mitigations where required 
•    Ensure compliance with accounting standards 
 

Other Accountabilities

Job Context

Define the nature of policy/procedure/instruction constraints and the nature of reporting relationships with the boss as well as any relevant financial sign-off authorities
As per delegation of authorities policy and other policies.
 

Education

Graduate Degree in Commerce or BBA with major in Finance or Banking

Experience and Skills

Professional qualifications
CA/CFA preferred
Work Experience 

At least 5 to 7 years of all-round Banking experience including exposure to Credit, Operations and Trade Finance areas. Core experience of at least 3 to 6 years in Credit Department/ Relationship Management is essential. 
Good writing skills for ensuring high quality credit proposals. Prior experience of writing credit proposals and seeking credit approvals is a must.
Exposure to marketing area will be an added advantage. Strong product, legal knowledge, collateral knowledge and understanding of security documentation (Facility Offer Letter & supporting sec docs)
