Manager - Controls Assurance Job

Job Purpose

To support the management of Operational Risks and support the Bank in understanding the quality of its Control Environment.  Particular emphasis for this role is with technology based controls.

Key Accountabilities

Engage the Business through Control Owners to document control processes.


Capture control processes in Control ‘Design Effectiveness’ scripts.


Obtain confirmation of the completeness and accuracy of the Design Effectiveness Script.


Obtain evidence from the Control Owner to complete Design Effectiveness Testing in line with the Bank’s Controls Assurance Process.


Conduct Design Effectiveness testing and capture evidence on the test scripts.


Obtain and act on feedback provided by Operational Risk and Internal Control after its challenge process.


Where required, conduct Operating Effectiveness testing using the scripts and methodology required by the Bank’s Operational Risk Management Framework and Processes.

The jobholder is expected to undertake ad-hoc projects on risk management as and when required by Senior Manager – Operational Risk and Internal Control or Senior Manager – Operational Risk Framework.

Frameworks, Boundaries & Decision Making Authorit

Define the nature of policy/procedure/instruction constraints and the nature of reporting relationships with the boss as well as any relevant financial sign-off authorities.

Sign off Authorities: None

Bachelors Degree, preferably in Risk Management, Engineering, Business or Accounting.
Certified Risk Management Professional or Technology Risk Professional– CCSA, FRM, CIA, CISI etc.
Experience and Skills

•    Technology Audit process with focus on testing and capture of evidence to support findings.
•    Sound knowledge in all areas of general banking operations and technology (specific Operations, Trade Finance, Swift and Corporate banking).
